Community legal empowerment is one of SALIGAN’s strategies in attaining its mission of creating genuine social change. This strategy involves a program for grassroots community members to have knowledge of the law and the necessary skills needed to address the legal issues and concerns of their communities and/or organizations. On its 34th year, SALIGAN celebrates the program completion of the seven groups of paralegals – 140 individuals – from Greater Metro Manila Areas, Mindanao and the Bicol region, who are members of the urban poor sector, women community leaders, indigenous peoples, advocates for the environment, and human rights defenders.
